The beer that was pored in to my work looks like piss and has text in there that i left that reads "you" - i quite like it- think it says a lot !

This will feed into my work nicely. What happens when you invite EVERYONE into your space?

Amazing collective & collaboration of artists, brilliant music & Spoken word, great conversation, beer poured into one of my art works, insulting graffiti & public damage to my art work. Documentation of  "The old space above the Queen of Bradgate , my art work and the marks we left" Taken on the last day of departure.

On the subject of the damage- Does it mean your allowing people to access the arts that wouldn't of before and the boundaries and respect is blurred?
or
was it their response to a night we put on named Anerki - generally the night highlights the freedom for people to discuss serious issues of racism, abuse, poverty and oppression and not judgments on peoples class or damage to art works. Someone was caught ripping my work and when they were asked what they were doing they said "its anarchy isn't it. " (This person was new to their event and unusual behaviour at an Anerki night btw) .
It could also be because as artists we have painted on the walls, i invited the public to write on beer mats and broke some rules or traditions by using an unused, derelict space and  by presenting this to them did THAT become the invitation.

Was the exhibitions or event oppressing them perhaps ?

I don't take the damage personally, who ever went round the building making marks on the top floor- it wasn't isolated on my work - i do think honestly they were having their 'little' level of fun.

How do i personally take that and bring this side of things into the work?  It is completely and totally relevant and will become part of the work, as the work was exploring the subject of "community" and the closure of community centres and what role 'the pub' play's and limitations they may face.

At what point when inviting people to take part does it then become expected that you are their to serve them?

Two weeks ago i asked Penny Rimbaud (writer, poet, philosopher, painter, musician and activist and former member of punk band Crass ) about Dial House as he discussed that 'the House is an All Welcome free house, without rules and  that he didn't believe in community as that too has a certain set of rules within them."

i asked if anyone abuses or manipulates this and what would he do should it happen at Dial house" his response was "with love and discussion" .

Really looking forward in continuing this
conversation with him at some point- really fascinating and relevant.

(above- displays of freedom, power and abuse)
Next is bringing the videos, recordings and everything together as one work and also developing the images on the right and creating new works from them - all thoughts will come out in the work naturally in the making - should be a real mix of emotions!
also really looking forward to mixing the installations with the sounds that i recorded during the "Points of Departure" and "Anerki" event- .

This is a selection of everything in the space- there is mark made from the public and marks made by the rain to the building as well as work from past shows   - the work was documented in video and materials including the flooring has been stored to include in another exhibition in a white wall gallery.
