Kate Jackson is a visual artist, singer and songwriter based in Leicester. Her practice begins with walking and aims to achieve its own visual landscape through painting and songwriting. Observing the urban landscapes of British towns and cities in search of a lost utopian future that never quite came to pass, her work often focuses on Brutalist architecture and concrete structures, modern monoliths that when painted become trapped in time, hauntological symbols of what might have been.

During the last six months the world has changed. Things we might have taken for granted like jobs, health and security, have all come into question due to the uncertainty created by the global pandemic. This has had a huge impact on our collective mental health and wellbeing; we have become confined to our homes, unable to see those we love, unable to travel beyond the limits of our collective lockdown. We are haunted by the places we used to visit everyday.
